Double Reed Competition

 

We are pleased to announce the first annual West Virginia University High School Double Reed Competition, a brand new competition for young oboists and bassoonists.  The competition will be held Monday, July 27, and will be judged by John Ferrillo, John Hunt, Cynthia Anderson, and Lynn Hileman.  Prizes will include a cash award and a solo performance on final concert.


Eligibility:

Students entering grades 9-12 in the 2009-2010 school year may compete.


Repertoire:

Competitors may choose their own repertoire.  For works with piano, an accompanist will be provided.


Prizes:

First Prize: $200

Second Prize: $50

Competition Entrance Fee: $20

Competition Entrance Deadline: July 1
